Chain tables

Home » Chain tables

The fairPACCT program aims to concretize fair pay and fair practice in various sub-sectors in the cultural and creative sector.

For each sub-sector, stakeholders take seats at a chain table (discussion table). This includes workers, their managers, if any, work providers, rate-setting intermediaries and impresarios, training, distributors, terminal operators and exhibitors. The purpose of the chain tables: to make joint proposals and preferably collective agreements on future-proof working conditions and to translate the Fair Practice Code into concrete tools for application in practice.

The chain tables pick up the most pressing issues. Preliminary studies by HTH Research, commissioned by Platform ACCT and aided by a grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), are often the guiding principles here. Action items arising from the most urgent issues may relate to: (further) research, awareness, structural dialogue, tools, assurance and enforcement. Practice tools to be created could include: good examples, concept frameworks (with definitions), manuals, fee guidelines and proposals for (collective) agreements.

The role of fairPACCT is facilitative and guiding. The chain tables are supervised by team fairPACCT and an (independent) chairperson for one year, with some run-out possibility. The intention is to continue the social dialogue independently between the participating parties after the first year so that the results of a chain table are implemented.

Chain tables

In the various sub-sectors, stakeholders were brought to the table to make joint plans for achieving better working conditions. Progress is charted by chain table.
