Freelance communication specialist, 16 to 20 hours per week, as soon as possible, until July 1, 2025, freelance
Platform Labor Market Cultural and Creative Future (Platform ACCT) is building a resilient sector. Our focus lies on creating better working conditions, strengthening sustainable employability, and increasing the earning capacity of all workers in the cultural and creative sector. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, we work with the sector towards a future-proof labor market.
Platform ACCT was established in 2020 as a project-based organisation. As of 1 January 2025, we are the cross-sectoral BIS institution for the labour market, and we are developing from a pioneer into a solid organisation. This transition requires us to strengthen our team, which is why we have a number of additional assignments and vacancies. Pending a more structural fulfilment of Platform ACCT’s communications role in the course of 2025, we are looking for a temporary freelance communications specialist for the very short term, with a focus on content.
Assignment description
As a communications specialist, you will contribute to the successful implementation of the fairPACCT programme. FairPACCT is the programme in which the Fair Practice Code is translated into concrete tools for practical application in the cultural and creative sector. We facilitate and support discussions between relevant parties in each subsector through so-called “chain tables”. The programme will run at least until the end of 2028.
Within fairPACCT, the active involvement of representatives from the cultural and creative sector is central. This involves various disciplines, such as digital culture, pop music or film/AV, different roles, such as makers, producers, venues or funders, and different backgrounds, for example in terms of career stage, education or region.
For instance, the ‘Marketing and Communication Professionals in Culture’ chain table, consisting of various marcom specialists, developed an instrument to promote fair pay for freelance marcom specialists.
Over the past three years, 12 “chain tables” have been established. These will continue to be supported over the next four years. In addition, new chain tables will be launched.
The current chain tables indicate that, in addition to developing new tariff guidelines, for example, there will be a particular need in the coming period for coordinated communication about the products already created, so that workers and those who commission or employ them are and remain well informed.
fairPACCT provides this support through advice and communication tools, including newsletters and its own website. The communications specialist we are looking for will play an important role in this.
What will you do?
As a communication specialist, you are responsible for:
- Updating and maintaining the CMS of the website (in both English and Dutch), in collaboration with the web developer. Experience with WordPress and Google Analytics is preferred;
- Writing and optimizing web texts and news reports;
- Drafting and posting social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook);
- Compiling and writing the newsletter and any news flashes;
- Providing communication support for events and meetings.
You will regularly participate in chain table meetings where you provide support and contribute ideas regarding the communication approach.
Within fairPACCT, you will work with the program manager and the program secretary, the communication officer of Platform ACCT, and other internal and external stakeholders.
More information about the program and Platform ACCT can be found here: www.fairpacct.nl / www.platformacct.nl.
What do you bring?
- You have strong communication skills, connect easily with colleagues and external contacts, and work well in a team.
- You persevere where others might stop, create clear plans, and organize your work efficiently.
- You are creative and linguistically skilled, helping us ensure all communications resonate well with the various target groups.
- You preferably have experience within the creative and cultural sector and knowledge of the labor market. It is also beneficial if you know how industry organizations and their representatives and constituencies operate. If you do not yet possess this knowledge, you are able to acquire it quickly.
What do we offer?
You can work hybrid, both from home and at the office, and you can schedule your hours flexibly. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, workspaces are available at our office in Amsterdam. Werkzaamheden kunnen ook op locatie plaatsvinden, hoofdzakelijk binnen de Randstad.
Platform ACCT promotes the application of the principles of equal opportunities and diversity. Platform ACCT sees diversity and inclusion as added value, both for the internal organisation and for the organisation’s products, services and audiences. We also welcome applications from cultural makers who would like to combine their artistic practice with this assignment.
For this assignment, we apply the guidelines developed by the marcom culture chain table. This means we use an hourly rate corresponding to level 6/7, depending on your level of experience. Look here.
You will have the opportunity to work for nearly six months with a compact, hardworking, and friendly team with a strong ambition to sustainably strengthen the labor market of the cultural and creative sector.
If you are interested in this assignment, please send your response to info@platformacct.nl. If you would like more information about the position first, you can contact Noud van de Rhee at noud@platformacct.nl.
We would like to receive your letter and CV by 5 January 2025 at the latest. The interviews are scheduled for Monday, 13 January 2025, in Amsterdam.
