Panel: Fair Pop Pilot: the results and the next step
The Fair Pop Pilot, conducted under the leadership of Platform ACCT and with the support of the Performing Arts Fund NL, the Cultuurfonds, and Fonds 21, investigated the effectiveness of fair pay compensation for pop musicians. The pilot tested the impact of the Pop Musicians Calculation Tool (which assists in determining fair compensation based on eleven criteria) and explored which funding routes are most effective for both pop artists and venues. The results of this pilot, which mark an important step in realizing fair pay in the pop sector, will be presented during a panel at ESNS on Friday, January 17, 2025, with fairPACCT program manager Noud van de Rhee, among others.
With the successful completion of the pilot, potential solutions for structural fair pay are being explored. Within the constituency of the VNPF (pop venues), there is significant support and motivation to work toward this goal. The Performing Arts Fund NL, co-funder of the pilot, is also prepared to engage in further discussions on this matter.
