Subsector: Narrative Audio
Do you create or direct narrative audio productions? Or do you sometimes commission them? Then it is important to consider fair pay. Because what is actually appropriate compensation for an episode script or research for a specific episode? And what working conditions should go with it? FairPACCT helps, with concrete guidelines and tools.
Creators of narrative audio deserve better
Audio is a medium that was in danger of disappearing, but is completely back due to the rise of the podcast. The directors and creators who make these podcasts (cultural, artistic podcasts, not ‘chatcasts’) often do so alongside other work.
Financing their productions is a challenge, let alone that fair pay is always a given. To ensure they are appropriately compensated in the future, fairPACCT has established its own chain table for this discipline.
About the chain table
The chain table is still being established. This chain table is slightly more compact than other chain tables. This is due to the overlap with the Film/AV and Digital Culture chain tables. The professionals at the tables are workers, employers and clients, intermediaries, and representatives of arts education programs.
The chain table is starting with a study into the Narrative Audio subsector: who works there, how do they finance their productions, and what are their opportunities to advance in their careers? Once this is clear, the chain table will look at which concrete tools and guidelines are needed to stimulate appropriate compensation and working relationships in this subsector.

Preliminary research
Preliminary and background research typically maps out the current state of affairs within a subsector. These studies, commissioned by Platform ACCT, serve as a guide for determining the most urgent matters for the chain table.
