An important milestone was reached this month within the Improving Working Conditions and Collective Agreements program. For three years, we have been helping six consultative tables get started annually, guiding participants toward making concrete agreements on matters such as remuneration. Earlier this year, the pop music, archaeology, amateur arts/arts education, and Film/AV sectors made a promising start at various speeds. At the end of June, two more sectors joined the frontrunners: freelance classical musicians (see photo) and the design sector. In the latter sector, preparatory research is still underway, for which a supervisory committee convened. However, this group has the potential to grow into a ‘ketentafel’ (chain table). The same situation applies to professional photographers. And with the kick-off for a chain table for literature organizations on July 11, the program is well on track to realize six tables in 2022.
nThe first independent chairs have also been appointed. Henk Koster (independent advisor and current director of SIKB) has taken up the gavel for the archaeologists, and Bertien Minco (independent advisor and current director of Kamp Westerbork) fulfills this role for Amateur Arts/Arts Education. Behind the scenes, exploratory talks are taking place with the visual arts, marketing and communication professionals, and media workers.
nnnnn“more and more common threads coming to light”
n
As mentioned;
nthere are different speeds. Sometimes additional research is required; sometimes it is still a matter of finding and engaging the right parties. However, the commitment in the various sectors to achieve greater professionalization and regulation of Fair Practice themes is significant everywhere and deserves much appreciation. Furthermore, more and more common threads are coming to light regarding themes that play a role at various tables. Therefore, the intention has arisen to organize inspiration sessions on certain dilemmas or best practices for members of chain tables and their associated sounding board groups. On November 3, Platform ACCT is organizing its annual event, which this year focuses on this program. It is also a wonderful opportunity to be inspired and to engage with peers.
