On Thursday, June 27, participants of the Jazz\/World\/Contemporary Chain Table gave a presentation at the inJazz Conference in Rotterdam. Pieter Hunfeld from the research agency Knyfe presented the results of his research into professional practices and payments. These serve as building blocks for developing a rate model with four progressive career stages for musicians. These documents will be opened for public consultation in July, allowing everyone to review them and contribute to the discussion. The input will be processed over the summer and, in the second half of this year, converted into a calculator that musicians and programmers can use in practice as a guideline for fair pay.Payments to composers are also part of the research. <\/p>\n

Fleurine Verloop presented the BIMpro research on the share of ‘Dutch’ acts within the programming of jazz venues and the male\/female distribution<\/strong> therein. More information about performance venues in the Netherlands is important for the steps that must be taken towards fair pay and fair practice in general. The same applies to more data regarding workers. <\/p>\n

Pieter Schoonderwoerd of the VNJJ emphasized that the path to fair pay is clearly a priority for venues and festivals and is a collective mission for all parts of the chain<\/strong> within this genre.<\/p>\n

During and after the session, many useful tips and recommendations were received from the audience. Keep an eye on the website; the documents will be made public soon! <\/p>\n
